NEW YORK - In a move that is expected to revolutionize the auction-bidding process, Manhattan-based LiveAuctioneers.com announces the debut of its custom-designed, downloadable iPhone application. The new “app” is the first of its kind within the auction industry to be openly available to any auction company, providing they interface with LiveAuctioneers’ services. Additionally, it is the first iPhone app to enable anyone who downloads it to bid absentee through LiveAuctioneers and access a comprehensive database of prices realized from hundreds of auction houses worldwide.
Cutting-edge functionality adds new dimension to the appraisal and valuation of art, antiques
"This application, which is available to download through Apple's iTunes Store, will revolutionize the antiques and auction sector," said LiveAuctioneers' CEO, Julian R. Ellison. "Anyone with this application loaded onto their iPhone will have instant access to any auction catalog listed on LiveAuctioneers and can even log in and leave absentee bids through our Secure Bidder Network (SBN). With SBN functionality, which is unique to LiveAuctioneers, your absentee bid is kept private and unknown to anyone until auction day, when it goes direct to the auction house."
Additionally, the new iPhone app enables the user to share auction lots with others via e-mail and to access more than 4 million fully illustrated auction results from past sales conducted through LiveAuctioneers. "Just think what an indispensable tool this will be for appraisers valuing estate items or auction house catalogers in need of comparables," Ellison said. "It's like having an entire antiques and fine art reference library available at one's fingertips."
Dealers and collectors will find the new application to be an invaluable aid, as well. "Anywhere you might happen to be - at a show or an antiques mall, for instance - you'll be able to check prices on similar articles before making a purchase," Ellison said.
Another bonus feature of LiveAuctioneers' iPhone app is its exclusive direct connection to Auction Central News (www.auctioncentralnews.com), the leading online source for news about auctions, antiques and fine art.
LiveAuctioneers.com provides Internet live-bidding services to more than 800 auction houses worldwide. Immediate iPhone access to auction catalogs and absentee bidding is the latest innovation within LiveAuctioneers' continually evolving business model, which takes the user to live-auction events worldwide through its industry-leading platform launched on Jan. 1, 2009.
The App is available for download now by visiting LiveAuctioneers iPhone App.
