NEW YORK – The staff at Roland was back at work shortly after Hurricane Sandy pummeled New York City as well as so much of the Eastern Seaboard. Even before electricity was restored, Bill and Robert Roland were in the gallery with staff, cataloging art and objects for their Nov. 17 sale, which will go on as scheduled. LiveAuctioneers.com will provide Internet live bidding.

"We were eager to stay on schedule," said co-owner Robert Roland. "We have a tremendous inventory of estate property designated for auction and we don't want to fall behind."

Highlights of the Nov. 17 "Harvest Auction" include a phenomenal collection of fine art. Works include paintings, drawings and sculpture signed or attributed to M. Soyer, G. Hondius, J. Vento, J. Scott, L. Cogniet, K. Lessing, D. Lutz, Rollentine, D. Wilkie, P. LaCroix, K. Zerbe, A. Preziosi, J. Morales and O. Altenkirch.

There are also many fine examples of Russian silver in sale, including a finely enameled silver kovsh. Other noteworthy collectible objects include a collection of Lalique and Moser glass, fine English porcelain dinner services, silver flatware and table decorations and much more.

As usual, there will be a considerable offering of modern design, including furniture by Herman Miller, John Widdicomb, Paul McCobb and Thonet.

As the holidays approach, Roland is featuring a varied collection of fine, costume and studio jewelry. And, on that note, Roland is also announcing its next sale Dec. 8, is already shaping up to be a most interesting auction.

The estate auction on Nov. 17 is sure to have an interesting mix for both dealers and collectors. The auction will begin Saturday at 11 a.m. EST.
